I'm in Freeport! Which is right next to lynbrook, where I was last
year! Or was it two years ago? Yah, I went there in January of 2013.
It's pretty different from Huntington. Elder hart is the zone leader
in lynbrook. I don't know how he feels about it. He wanted to go into
the city. Well, this area is similar. It's half 'n half. You get the
feel of the city in the island! I'll take pics, of course.
My companion is Elder Blackham, and he's 6'6", 311lbs! He makes me feel small!
I was / am sad about who left Tuesday. But I'll see them again I hope.
I told Izatt you wanted to go to his Farewell. (I saw the pics, nice)
If I try, I think I'll like this area. I need to stop worrying about
not being in Huntington. I'll just stop talking about it. I can't have
the nicest pad and area and ward forever. Ok I need to stop thinking
about it too.
So I am excited to see how things work here.
Our pad is okay. Not washer/dryer cool, but it's pretty spacious.
Large living room, kitchen/dining room thing, two walk in closets, and
a member lives on the same floor as us. Yes, we live in an actual
apartment building. I'll make sure to take lots of pics. But the
inside of the halls is pretty dull. We live on the 4th floor, but
there is an elevator so I didn't have much to move, it was easier than
before. But I also have been living in houses for the past year. Wow,
I spent 6 months each in two areas!
A whole year in one zone. I love the zone/area. Well, maybe not
Bayshore too much anymore. I like the members, just not the area so
much. I think Huntington has ruined me for not liking the rest of the
scenery of New York.
So today was the first Sunday in Freeport. I don't know how I feel
about the ward/members. Like,,, it's pretty much all Spanish.
Apparently it's officially English, but like 70% of the people are
Spanish. I was greeted pretty well. But I didn't listen to myself and
I kept wishing I was back in Huntington. I know I have to get to know
this area and the people here, but I think because of the language
barrier, I just don't want to try. Also maybe because I keep thinking
I'm done and I don't need to work or even try to do anything. This
week was really slow and not very eventful. Like I'm not happy with
what we did. Or didn't do. I know I need to step up and be a man, but
I don't wanna! *whine, whine*. (You want some cheese with that neck?)
I have three transfers (including this one) left, and I need to show
The Lord what I'm capable of. Because if I don't do things here, I'm
pretty sure I'm not just going to all of a sudden do it perfectly
after the mission as I hope. But I need to develop the habit now, so
it'll be no problem when I'm home.
I was thinking that it's also possible not to train my last two,
if I keep doing what this week consisted of. Which was nothing. For
the first time ever I got all zeros in a week. But the thing is, this
is also the first time I've ever been blinded into an area. But that's
no excuse! I should have been more active! I think I was
subconsciously making myself stressed and worried and that made me
really tired. I have been worn out this week, too. And I didn't do
anything to earn that tiredness. I had a pretty wired headache the
first day. Like it was a small migraine? My eyes were sensitive to the
light, and the top of my spine hurt. Also my temples. I put some
peppermint oil on my neck and always had a an ice pack on me neck. But
it was still annoying.
So I kinda used that to do less work. My comp is also kinda dead
in the work. So it's like there are two useless people together.
Nothing gets done. We know what we should do. But we make dumb
excuses. Like that his gps was stolen, so it's hard to get around. But
we've done it another way already. And I don't speak the language the
members do, but my comp does. I don't know.... I just gotta remember
why I'm here and go to work.
Anyway enough of that.
We went to one members house and he taught us how to make hummus! So
now we want to get a blender and some beans and make our own hummus!
And live off that forever. Bro Stanford, he said that it's good for
you. He said that the Spanish people in their countries are in poor
condition but their bodies are in better cuz of all the beans and rice
they eat. It's pretty simple. Just blend the beans and some salt and
spices together. Once you get the right spices it's easy. He made
us black bean hummus, and I just ate some more. The spices are kinda
strong, but it's real good anyway.
Our pad doesn't have wifi, which is good, and bad at the same time.
I'm glad because we won't get stuck on it and get nothing done that
way. But it's dumb because we have to go elsewhere to sync or find
where people live. No big deal cuz the church is real close. Like 5
blocks away. We could walk if the blocks weren't huge. One dumb thing
about ny, massive blocks. It took us half an hour to get on the other
side of a block once. We walked. We were knocking and we were done, so
we walked back and it took a long time.
Uhhhh........ Well today I got into some secret rooms in our church
building. They use them for storage, but they are huge and there's two
of them. And each has a bathroom. So that's 4 bathrooms upstairs and
we only use two. But I thought that we aren't squished with what we
are using. So the two extra massive rooms aren't really necessary.
I've been drinking lots of water.
I miss my old district.
I miss my old area.
I haven't been eating a lot. Except for today I ate a ton at the
senior couples house. She made cheesy broccoli and chicken and rice,
and he made home made bread, and then some cookies and ice cream. It
was really good. Their apartment is really nice.
I don't know how much I weigh.
My comps has a scale, I'll check later.
I need to stay focused.
I wish I had a hammock to sleep in.
I have 40 bucks left, but I'm pretending I don't, so I don't spend it.
It's working pretty well, I got one week left, then we get paid. Then
I'll add it and have 220.
And then I'll buy food.
Whoo! Our laundromat has the wifi! I haven't used a laundromat for 6 months.
So today I'm thinking of playing handball, because there are courts
pretty close, and it's a fun game. And aloe going shopping,
well...window shopping. (Because I'm out of money *wink wink*)
Oh, this summer has been really mild apparently. Like it's only been
in the 90's twice. Everyone says it's not that bad compared to last
year. I'm glad I wasn't here for that. And I'm glad this summer wasn't
that bad. Hart said it was stupid hot.
Ok, I'm done writing for this morning.
