Hello family.
This morning was pretty cool. We went down to the beach to watch
the sunrise. It took a long time but once he got up it was pretty
cool. Sister Acosta found a horseshoe crab skeleton? It was the shell
of it. And I've never seen them alive I've only seen them dead and
pictures or whatever and it's pretty interesting. I took a lot of
pictures and videos of everything because it's good to have memories
of things like that with the district. Elder Wright got pretty soaked
in the water cause he was taking a lot of pictures. I guess it looks
better of the sunrise when you're in the water?
I heard the sun rose at six but I guess it was really like almost 7
by the time the sun actually got up, the light came around 630 for the
sun didn't come up. It's interesting how much light comes before the
sun.
As always on Saturday I was going to missionaries at the church maybe
one or two other members. We watch the first session but we are
watching it on the members laptop and the connection wasn't very
strong. It kept cutting out. So it was pretty hard to understand what
was going on the video was very slow and at times it just stopped
completely and that would be nothing for a few minutes. But then we
figured to use the iPads and connected to the TV and that worked
perfectly.
Oh I forgot, there was a service opportunity for us in the morning
before this morning session on Saturday and it was a friend of a
member? We help them paint their upstairs room as well the downstairs
room it was pretty fun were there for little while. We were upstairs
with the sisters and it was pretty fun they're very interesting. of
course sister Acosta got a little excited with the paint and by the
end of the day everyone had some paint on them. But it seemed that
Mortensen had more pain than anyone else I guess he gets more excited,
but we were not with them so I don't know. Afterwards we are going
back into the apartment and I had some boots and jeans on because we
are supposed to be cutting down trees and working in the yard but it
was raining so it didn't happen. So I have my boots on and I like to
crush cans with my boots and there were some beer cans under the
carport and I tapped one to see if it was empty and I wiggled a bit so
I figured it was empty. and then I proceeded to crush it with my foot.
It wasn't empty. It was a tall can, and apparently half of it was not
gone but in that instant it was all over my left leg. After I cried a
little bit, I went over to a puddle of water and I jumped around that
and got some water on my leg where the beer was to...I don't know try
to wash it off... I wanted to wash it pretty quickly but it was a few
days away from pday so I just hung up to dry in my closet and
hopefully my closet doesn't smell too much like beer because it stinks
really bad. Elder Richardson took a picture of me in the puddle saying
it was my punishment picture. But I think that having beer all over my
leg is punishment enough. So today I will be washing it and I want to
wash all the clothes because sometimes I forget to.
After the second session we came home and we were going to turn
into the parking lot garage in the back of the apartment and there's
this guy that was parked in the middle the road that way we can't get
past him so I backed up into a spot, and we helped him and his family
unload their van and pulled their stuff up to the second floor where
they live and we asked them if the need anymore help and to call us if
so. They left to go get more stuff from their old house as well as
some from a storage shed and we went back to working. We were knocking
and we found a guy José Carlos. We taught him a lesson we are going to
commit him to be baptized but there was another guy that just showed
up near the end of the lesson and it was awkward so we didn't get that
out. But he knew some of the old missionaries that served here a long
time ago and he's even friends with them on Facebook. So we are
talking with them to get more referrals for this area. Then we went
out into the car and waited for them to come but they were taking a
while so we listen to the priesthood session in the car while we made
some pass along cards. Then when we thought it was too late we started
to leave but of course they were coming back as we were leaving so we
parked and help them again.
they previously met with the missionaries in the Dominican republic
where four of them just moved from. One of them has been to our church
building a few times before. We hope to continue teaching them
because there are eight people in the family and they all need to be
baptized. I'm glad that we got to serve them to show that we care
about them and are friends with them so it'll be easier to get in and
teach them, we hope. Then when we were done we had half an hour left
of the priesthood session so we went to the church and finished it.
I forgot to mention that we had fasted on that morning to start off
the transfer and also to acquire or gain the faith needed to meet some
of the goals we have set up and afterwords we got those two miraculous
blessings of the lesson and the move and now we have that faith that
fasting does work and that we can get the goals we set for this
transfer or quarter.
Sunday we went to the church, I had made a lot of Horchata that
morning and I brought a lot to the church to share with the ward
because we are having a potluck. Made about 20 cups and used a giant
tub for it, it was very exciting. After the morning session we had our
ward party/dinner. The food was good. A few people said they like my
horchata. Sis. Acosta said its the best she's had on the mission. It
was also a members birthday so we had cake for him.
I love how we can listen to the talks the day after, Instead of having
to wait a month to get the ensign.
Oh mom, that bottle you gave me was well used and it got some holes it
it, one that I fixed with some tape. But there was one an the bottom
that was hard to fix because it bent a lot. And I accidentally left if
in the freezer and the water pushed the bottom out. So I'm going to
find a new one. I've seen them here.
I must have eaten something wrong, because I've been having
abdominal pain, and some painful gas buildup. You can never trust
Hispanic food. There was also some Filippino food that no one
touched. It was like purple cabbage and noodles.
Today we are going to far rock away to get some things Richardson
left there. Good thing it's not too far. But they do call it far rock
away for a reason. Then we'll play some soccer with the sisters.
I hope you saw that picture of us at transfers that Yoshi took. I,
sure I'm tagged. Its a lot easier to have someone else take and post
your pics than having to worry about it yourself.
I do feel better about this companionship. One of our goals is to
become friends. By the end of our stay together. We think we'll stay
till the end. He leaves when I do. So we'll "kill" each other off.
2 transfers=3 months, which=12 weeks.
I want to finish strong and hard working, so I don't feel it was a
total waste of time. Elder Richardson is good for me. President said
he's like another elder Izatt. We are going to work, but we'll still
have fun.
Elder blackham was exiled to Riverhead.
Welp, that's about it for now. It's a lot. I might write more later,
if I feel like it. Or if something good happens to share.
Oh ps. - my favorite talk I remember was elder Scott, about FHE and things.
LYB-elder peck.
